| Now thru November 28, 2011 SAMUEL DONOVAN OIL AND WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS Sam Donovan has had paint on his clothes, in his hair and on his hands for the better part of 35 years. Sam's work as an artist has included huge hand-painted murals, portraits, liquor adds and Marlboro Men, painted outside, sometime 150 feet in the air. In this exhibit Sam turns his attention to the things he loves, the outdoors, the dairy farms the rural landscapes he grew up with, he paints these things to please himself but hopes that you enjoy them too. | Now thru January 8, 2012 REFUGE: ROBERT LACH Lach creates a nest colony installation from materials gathered near and around the museum. The installation is a visual meditation to resonate the peace and tranquility of the natural enviroment. The creative process to construct these sculptural nests is an experience of hand whittling and hand sawing of discarded scrap wood. The paradoxical cycles of birth and death are symbolized by bones and fragments collected. | January 15, 2012 to April 22, 2012 KATHERINE STANEK & JULIA LEVITINA: OF MYTHS, METAL AND MORTAR Katherine Stanek and Julia Levitina present representational works with a unique freshness. Levitina sculpts figures and animals in terracotta and bronze, with fine craftsmanship and sensitivity. Stanek’s work utilizes an innovative use of materials, a combination of cements, aggregates and pigments. In her unique process she uses destruction as a vehicle for creation. Each artist establishes a deep connection to her work as it goes through all the foundry processes. Stanek and Levitina each sculpt, cast and finish their own work, ensuring a very personal quality to each sculpture.
